Mainly down to testosterone levels at the point of text.
Example...met the guy on a night out and things go well, you drop him a text the next day. Now there is a few scenarios that can play out...he has got up with hangover horn and then masturbated causing his test levels to crash...you then text and he can't be arsed to text back.
Another reason why he may not text back is because he has been eating a super high calorie and fat diet, been lifting weights and his test levels have gone through the roof and basically turned into Terminator mode...this gif shows it well.

All he can think about is achieving his goals and killing people.
If he text back it is because his test levels are in between these...a lot like Goldie-Locks and the porridge.
So him not texting back right away may not mean he doesn't like you...his test levels were not at the right balance for him to do it. Testosterone totally dominates men's every thought.
