**NOTE: Just want to preface this by saying this is NOT a slam against Western medicine -- I was married to an M.D. neurologist for 20 years and have no qualms about going to a doctor when necessary. Just curious about people's thoughts on so-called alternative medicines.
Two-and-a-half years ago, SO and I lived in a condo and were exposed to Stachybotrys -- black mold, VERY high levels. Needless to say, we moved and did not buy the condo.
We were so sick for almost a year -- we slept sometimes as much as 15 hours a day, we each lost almost 20 pounds, could barely drive, people thought we were "on drugs", etc. Sadly, after thousands of dollars and MANY trips to traditional docs & specialists, I learned that Western medicine simply doesn't have "all the answers" for this kind of illness. After many months, we ended up at a mold treatment center in Atlanta and finally got on the path to wellness.
Throughout this whole journey, I started learning more and more about herbs, minerals and essential oils from plants (lavendar, peppermint, frankincense, etc). Before all this happened, I had a whole different viewpoint on this kind of stuff -- thinking of it as on the "fringe" (or somewhat quackery) if I'm totally honest.
I was blown away by the healing properties of some of these herbs and oils, where Western medicine had no answers.
I now have an "East meets West" philosophy towards healing and medicine. I am constantly amazed by the outcomes I've seen when using these items medicinally.
Just wondering what people's thoughts are and usage of these types of alternative healing.
