Hey, so, I'm a PhD student and i've been demonstrating labs to some final years for a couple of weeks. There's this one girl in that lab who seems really cool and I think she might be interested too. We've spent a bit of time chatting over a few days etc. Now, not wanting to make things awkward I hadn't asked her out because I still had to demonstrate and also because she's always in a group. However, today was the last day of that lab and I was just gonna go for it and ask if she wanted to get a drink at the weekend BUT most of them didnt turn up today including her (it's a theoretical lab and all the important parts had been done so apparently they were working on a lab report for another module instead).
Which has screwed me right over.
I know her name (and she knows mine) and I found her on facebook, is it weird to just send her a message on there saying 'hey xxxx it's xxxx from lab, was going to ask today but you weren't around - would you like to get a drink this weekend?'
I figure I might as well go for it right? I mean its not ideal but i'm literally never going to see her again so what does it matter? Or is this a bad idea?
Edit: Note the module has finished now and i'm not doing any marking for it so there's no conflict there.
