Would my boyfriend like this? (guys respond)

So my birthday is coming up soon, I'm being taken out to dinner (hooray). The past month or so has been quite stressful for various reasons but mainly because of exams, it's hard to balance spending time with my boyfriend and also trying to get good grades. I bought a card to give to my boyfriend, as I was randomly thinking I'd like to let him know how much I appreciate him and love him etc, especially when it's quite stressful at the moment and he tends to feel exam stress a lot more than me. Do you think this is just overly soppy/too much or whatever? We've been together more than a year so I know he's not gonna think i'm 'clingy' as such, but I'm wondering if you were celebrating someone else's birthday for them and they got you a card would you be a bit weirded out? He does so much for me and I always thank him but I want him to know I actually mean it.
