Is it just me, or does there seem to be a big divide. On my campus the majority of people are from public schools; if you didn't go to public school you are on the fringes of society. Although this is a generalization, it seems that public school kids come out of a highly controlled environment which they have been in since basically the start of primary school, and out of their parents control and go nuts at uni. they drink more, are more obnoxious, seem to be more on a mission to find themselves and just generally annoy the hell out of calmer state school people who have had to fight for survival, have had free rein and already know who they are. The private school kids seem to band together and look down on those who are from "lesser backgrounds"/ push us out. In normal society they would be as awkward as hell and do not seem able to identify with anyone outside their "social class"- yet on my campus these are the people who seem to "rule the campus" as it were. Anyone else have similar experiences? | |||
