Holiday with other half!

Well, I love holidays and going away basically. I went on 4 holidays last year, 2 x ski holiday, one summer holiday and then a weekend break in Ireland with my uni friends! I really want to go on holiday this year but not a girls holiday because I don't like the idea of getting drunk every night and spending the days hungover on the beach, and a family holiday isn't really practical so I'm hoping to go on a holiday with my other half :) I would be up for going on holiday anytime but my boyfriend wants to go in September/October, which is absolutely ages away! Uni finishes in April for me so it's going to be one long summer. I can see myself booking a holiday before then, don't know who I would go with though. I don't think there's any way of persuading him to go earlier in the year though because he would need to save up for it. I think it would be easier to save up rather than him have to go into his overdraft/borrow money for it. Well, what my question is really.. how did you find your first holiday with your other half, or are you planning a first holiday with your other half and where are you going etc? I don't really know where to go. He wants to go to Cyprus but I would rather go somewhere a bit closer like Majorca (Alcudia specifically because I loved it when I went there before!) Also don't know whether to go all inclusive or half board or self catering or what? When I read reviews for all inclusive I see things like 'The beer/wine was horrible.. The food was all the same and boring' which puts me off. And also I would want to get out and about and not be at the hotel all day so I think half board would possibly be a better option? Opinions please :)
