When friends ignore you because you're a little different/your opinions differ

I have a couple of mates, both computing grads but who are not working in the industry. I had to cancel birthday plans with them at short notice due to a family issue (mental health problem of someone very close to me). Since that they have been ignoring me.

We usually game online, we're in a Facebook group about football and we often meet, text and chat. Although I have tried to make contact and apologise for the let down and explain what happened, they don't want to talk. This isn't the first time they've been like this but it's never been so blatant.

They used to make comments about me being "on my high horse" because I had a different opinion to them on trivial things e.g. I think Mac's are terrific machines. They take the view that because they can get a higher spec PC for the same price they're inferior. If I try to make an observation about any technology they act like I am getting ahead of myself.

What do you do when friends dislike you for who you are and cannot let a setback or a mistake that you have apologised for go?
