What am I missing here?

My wife just finished up her military duty (11+ years) a few weeks ago and decided that to "celebrate" her getting out, she'd spend some extended time with her family, several states away from us.

She's been gone about 2 weeks now. The first week and a half went quite smoothly, with a good amount of regular contact during the trip, and she was very loving and friendly (not necessarily the norm for her). Thursday night, my two kids from my first marriage came to visit me, with my ex flying them in for the weekend. Friday morning, the kids and I wake up and I'm going to take them to the YMCA pool, only to notice that I've got a flat tire. I inspect the tire and notice that it is quite torn up, but I get enough air in it to take me to the tire shop in town. The manager looks at the tire and initially thinks perhaps the tires had been cut by someone. At this point, for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, I send a text message to my wife to just let her know about the situation:

Me: So the car had an almost completely flat tire when I went out this morning. I'm at the tire shop now and the manager says it looks like someone may have cut it.

Her: I bet that ***** of an ex wife of yours did it. I am not in the army anymore. I am gunna hurt that ***** if it's the last thing I do.

About 15 minutes go by, and the manager by this point has the tire off of the car and has me look at it with him. He changed what he thiught was the cause, saying it looked far too tore up for someone to have cut it. He said it almost looked like barbed wire or something had torn it up (though I don't know how that happened). He made a valid point that these weren't clean cuts, like someone slashing it, so I passed the updated diagnosis along to my wife.

Me: The whole thing seems weird. The manager says that in 20 years of working on tires, he's never seen anything like this. After getting the tire off, he doesn't think it's been cut, he said it's just too torn up for that.

Her: That s$&@ got cut by that fat *****
It's not weird at all...that ***** cut it and now I am gunna hurt her
It's time to put all of those guns that I have to use
F$&@ing fat *****....it's on now

Me: They have the tire off and they're pretty sure it isn't cut, they said it wasn't clean like someone cut it

Her: Sure....I am not convinced at all

Here's where things got even more strange in my mind. She didn't seem like she believed me, so I offered to let her talk to the manager at the shop.

Me: I'm just telling you what they said....you can talk to the guys here if you want

Her: F$&@ you

Me: I don't deserve to be swore at

Her: yeah ok...so I can do anything except that. That's what gets you. I will remember that I can treat you like s$&@ any other way and you're good, just don't swear at you. Makes sense to me

Then she started going on about when she gets home, she's getting a divorce.....and oh by the way, F$&@ you again.

Perhaps I'm just completely biased and have blinders on....I just don't feel like I'm dealing with a rational person here. I guess she's mad at me because I don't want to kill my ex.....however, I'm simply going on the facts that the likelihood of her cutting (or anyone for that matter, according to the shop manager) cutting my tire is slim to none. I'm just completely thrown about how something that seems like it could be an innocent conversation could in the course of 5 minutes escalate into her claiming she's filing for divorce.

My initial thoughts on this are that it almost seemed like she wanted to be mad at me, and was searching for a reason, and found one with the tire. Of course, then I take things several steps farther in my head, wondering why she'd want to be mad and kick me if the curb. The natural thiught is that she's having an affair and looking to drop me and try to make it my fault. Am I completely crazy thinking that? Or am I dealing with someone who's just acting completely irrational, or is it me who really has screwed up this situation that badly?
