Should age be an issue?

My friend is currently in a budding relationship with a guy who is a bit older than her. She knows him through her university, and he genuinely seemed like a wonderful guy for her when I was introduced to him. He's intelligent, not bad-looking, studies Drama and Creative Writing and seems a lot more mature than any of her past disasters. Her one issue, that she thinks everyone is judging her for, is that she is 21, and he is 30.

I told her personally, (though I have no idea why she's asking me, I'm useless when it comes to relationship advice) he seems a nice guy, and if he treats her nicely and they get on well etc., then what's the problem? But she's still having issues, but it is completely obvious she's falling for him.

She's told me that she won't let him meet her parents, because of her dad mainly. She thinks he'll greatly disapprove. She's not sure how her mum will react. She's spoken to her older brother, who's about the same age as the guy, and he seems fine with him.

I was just wondering if people think age is an issue? Should it be? I mean obviously there are huge grey areas when it comes to this subject, but I mean they're both adults, and if it's working, what's the fuss? Why do people think age is such an issue?
