I have recently returned from a 10 day holiday in Turkey with my mother and stepfather, on an all inclusive basis, which meant in would be in our hotel's restaurant at least twice a day with my family.
In this restaurant I foolishly formed a ridiculous (but provoked) crush on one of the young waiters who consistently went out of his way to charm and flirt with me. His name was Bilal. He would always ask about my future education plans, if I wanted to be married with children when I was older, and playfully engage in frequent excuses for physical and mental contact (touching my hand, rubbing my shoulder, winking, pouring a light sprinkling of water over my neck and back, making fun of my accent, sharing small jokes about my interests in football and coming to speak to me, even if we were not dining in his "assigned" area for working. He was always happy and friendly to all of the guests but it seemed as if he made particular effort to make me feel mesmerised by him.)
On the day of departure I was obviously feeling quite depressed as you do when leaving a holiday, and Turkish men being what they are, I went home to many Facebook friend requests from several sleazy but nonetheless harmless waiters who were not familiar with the concept of a naturally redheaded young female with milky skin. Some of them would message me every day which got tedious but out of social convention I replied as I did not want to appear rude. Some spoke more than others and to this day only Bilal and Ferhat speak to me.
Bilal liked all of my Facebook profile photos and cover photos that I was in, one after the other and often privately told me I was unique and gorgeous, something which I totally went weak at the knees to since I thought the same of him even though I am only 16 and he was probably almost 10 years older. He obviously had to work at certain times during the day so was inactive at times.
Today, when he was inactive, I checked my chat with him and although the messages are available to read, the keyboard has not shown, so I am unable to reply to him. My last messages to him did not deliver. I checked his profile and parts which I could always see were covered and his profile pictures were "currently unavailable." Now, when I search for his profile nothing at all appears. All of my photos which he liked no longer say his name and he is no longer on my friends list so I automatically assume he blocked me and I angrily want to know why.
I am upset and I feel used and unnecessarily led on. Naturally, I ask Ferhat, a waiter who I politely spoke to and who knew Bilal if I had done something wrong and I explained to him the situation. His reply was scathing. "Ahh I see, his wife probably checks his Facebook and blocked you because you are attractive and she sees you as a threat." I'm so angry and confused, but most of all disappointed in myself for not seeing that he could've been married. But he never wore a ring (no waiters or hotel staff did) and I succumbed to the spell he put me under. This truly annoys me because if I sat on the fence and had a friend told me this story I would be quick to tell her that he was merely a time wasting Turkish man chasing after another blasé little European girl. I am dumbfounded at my stupidity and naïveté, but most of all I can't believe he would lead me on IF he was married or IF he was not and just wanted to use me and dump me as it pleased him. Why didn't he just message me and tell me he had to unfriend me? It would have been still hurtful but then I would at least have closure.
I appreciate that this is long but could somebody please tell me why he done this to me. Only now, reading back this post do I realise how small scale and pathetic this sounds but I do hope you'll take into account how crushed I feel. Could somebody tell me if they know what has happened here?
Thanks in advance,
PCB.
