I am new to this group but am thankful to find this site. My husband and I began looking to buy a house in February. We live in Maryland and the real estate can be pricey. I needed at least 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a one car garage and I didn't want a fixer upper. My husband wanted the same things in addition to a single family home, a 2 car garage, fenced in yard, and a basement. These things limited homes in our price range. We made three offers and were rejected. The fourth home I didn't like but my husband did. It was a foreclosure and I went along with making an offer to appease my husband-big mistake. Our offer was accepted and it has been a nightmare. Upon inspection, mold was found in the basement. I thought my husband would want to get out of the contract, but no. Eventually the other bank agreed to take care of it. We were to close at the end of May and my husband insisted we notify our landlord that we would move out at the beginni ng of June. Of course closing was delayed because the owner on record could not be verified and our appraisal was not released. Our landlord agreed to extend our lease to the end of June. My husband believed that closing would occur by then. By the middle of June our landlord rented our place and we have to leave by 7/25. I understand he couldn't keep waiting on us. The owner on record was taken care of last week and the appraisal was released. The home was appraised at a lower price and there are some further repairs needed to be performed. We are waiting to hear from the bank if they will agree to these terms. I have been wanting to walk away from this situation and rent a new place. There is so much tension between my husband and I and we are arguing weekly. Our agent suggested we do a preoccupancy but I am nervous about that. My husband thinks it's a great idea. We have a 7 year old daughter and I want to do what's best for her. I realize that I have been f ar TOO passive in this process. I was trying to be a supportive wife but now I regret all of it. Should I do the preoccupancy or leave my husband and rent my own place? We only have 2 1/2 weeks left so it's a time crunch. Thank you!
Put the internet to work for you.
