Here's an odd question, one that will probably annoy people who either self identify as macho men or as girly girls. Why is it that most of the time being either especially manly or especially womanly involves being anti-intellectual? I mean we all know there are millions of ghetto thugs and simple minded chavs who think that thinking men are gay, but they also tend to disapprove of thinking women and so do bitchy social circles of girls generally.
Is it that sexuality, really, regardless of gender is associated with stupidity, in a "good way" or is it that intelligence is somehow regarded as being associated with passivity. If it's the latter then it still doesn't answer why it's a bad thing for women who want to be womanly.
Also, how can it be both, rationally? How can intelligence be against both masculinity and femininity at the same time?
