husband's new sports car

I posted a while back about my husband's depression and verbal obsessing over his career situation (he might lose his job and if he gets another job he wont' get paid as much). Well some things changed at his job that make him feel a little bit more secure about not getting laid off any time soon so it's no longer an urgent issue.

Anyway, H is into sports cars and a new car came out recently that he just had to have. I wasn't happy about the expense that would come along with it, so I never really gave consent to the purchase. He texted me while at the dealership saying he was in the process of purchasing the car. Now we have this car that involves a monthly payment of over $700 a month, 5k removed from savings and 2K charged on a credit card. In addition, he will need to buy a winter vehicle which will probably cost another 5k alonger with insurance and other expenses. As it is we are spending $400 a month on my car. He is already talking about having to forgo vacations and other purchases so we can afford car expenses.

For someone who only 6 months ago was .lying on the couch day and night talking about wanting to commit suicide over the prospect of losing his job and making less money , he sure suddenly feels confident about affording this car. I wish he used the money to further his education instead. He says that since we do not have kids, he wants to enjoy life and he realliy wanted this car.

Outside of the financial implications, now everwhere we go there is this huge production about parking. We have to drive around the lot in circles until he finds the perfect spot away from any other car. if it's bad weather, too bad we have to walk. We have actually driven away from stores/restaurants because he didn't find a spot he approved. He flips out at every potential scratch, or unexpected noise the car makes. I feel like this car has taken over my life!

I realize there is not much I can do about it now because it is already purchased. I have my own 'luxury' expenses like clothes (although everything I buy is on sale and I need to dress professional for my job) and what I spend on the dog walker/vet bills every month. But this just seems crazy. Am I overreacting??
