How to ask out a guy when i only know his address?

I like this guy, but my problem is that i don't see him around town anymore. I am shy (and so is the guy i like) so whenever i would see him on the train, we would only say 'hi' and 'bye' to each other (we know each other from high school, but never had a conversation). So my question is: should i ask him out? And how? As for contact information, i only know where he lives. And since i never run into him in town, the only way to ask him out would be to go to his house.. but i feel kind of weird about that! (he lives with his parents). And i don't know if it's a good thing or not, but Valentine's Day is coming up.. you think that's a good start for asking him out? Like it's a good excuse to ask him out on that day? I really need your help because i have no idea how to ever get him to like me when we never get to meet..
