When I joined this site a few months ago it was because I was facing a dilemma about either going back to school or keep grinding it without a college education. I was about to be laid off at the end of the month so I had to make some life altering decisions pretty fast. My decision was going to impact my family and the possibility of children in the future. Mr. Bam and I decided that, at least for now, I'd give my current career a go. He's been in sales his whole life and he's good at it. He's been telling me for a long time to try my hand at it.
Luckily I managed to land a job to replace my old lay-off, right on time. The base pay wasn't what I was used to but it was a career change for me and I knew it was inevitable. With commission, I could have gotten close to being back on track. I was doing well and even though it was a relatively tough sell, within 3 weeks I sold enough to cover my first month's salary. I thought that gave me some security within the company but I was wrong. Upper management decided to take down the entire Account Management team including our team lead. That really surprised me because they just hired myself and another agent less than a month ago. Now I'm back to being **** out of luck, again.
Looking back over my career history, I feel like I constantly take on jobs without seeing the red flags. Frankly, I'm tired of having to get a new job every year in spite of the fact that I've given my employers what they needed. Going forward, I wanna make better decisions about which jobs I accept but I worry that I won't notice the early warning signs. What are some important things you look for when considering a new job?
