OK I know I need to be careful here cause it is like asking the fox if the henhouse door should be left open. Is it possible that too much TAM (and other online forums) becomes an alter ego, escape mechanism where a relationship developes to the detriment of the one we seek to fix?
Hold on, hold on, hear me out. TAM is a wonderful community that I will say has probably saved my marriage...several times. Not only has it saved it but also it has spiced up our sexual connection remarkably. Forums like this allow for open, honest and anonymous sharing of issues with the benefit of first hand experinced feedback.
The responsible user reads, posts, comments, discusses, critiques, likes and then signs off to filter the information and apply medicine to the marriage.
But what about the member who seeks escape, as in an EA, and runs off to their forum friends to fulfill emotional needs and social connection without delivering results back to the troubled spouse. Do they sort of develope a multiple personality where life online with like minded thinkers is preferred over chats with Homer downstairs in the barcalounger? Could it actually create further seperation in the relationship because..."OMG these people really get me!" F**k Homer!
So no matter what, toilet, tub or tavern, there it is...ipad in hand, TAM on the screen.
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name.
