Non-monogamy! (AKA polyamory, open relationships, 100 mile rule...)

  • Thread Starter

I was wondering if there's anyone else on TSR not being monogamous? Or anyone who's thinking about it?

Especially now that the uni year is just about to start and lots of people are going long distance with their partners, I think it's definitely worth talking about non-monogamy as a possible option for people. Lots of people appear to struggle with lack of intimacy at uni, and non-monogamy is a possible option to allow you to sustain positive, fulfilling relationships that developed back at home without having to struggle with lack of physical and emotional intimacy at uni. Of course it doesn't work for everyone, not by a long shot, but it is something to think about.

There's quite a few ways of doing it: don't ask don't tell, 100 mile rule, only sex no love, just snuggles no penetration, case by case basis, polyfidelity, full on polyamory...

I have a boyfriend of going on six years, a girlfriend of just over a year, and many many flings/hook ups/atrocious stories of awkwardness from the 4 years or so that I've been open/poly. (The boyfriend and I started off in an open "just sex no love" type thing...then I met my girlfriend.)

I'm happy to answer any questions. Would also love to hear if there's any other non-monogamous people on TSR.
