Drug testing welfare applicants nets little ? USATODAY.com
So after a review of Arizona and Florida's welfare drug testing programs, its seems it was a colossal waste of taxpayer money, and a reckless abuse of civil rights. Arizona tested 87,000 welfare recipients and only THREE people failed the test. THREE. Zealous legislators proclaimed the program was going to save the state millions.
Florida who had the gall to charge potential recipients for being subjected to the drug-test did yield slightly better results, since almost 3% either failed the test, or failed to take the test. When you need state assistance it might be difficult to come up with an extra $40.00.
Despite these miserable and outright embarrassing results twelve more states are pushing these laws.
