Have been asked to be Godmother but I'm not religious..

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out, basically as it says in the title I have been asked to be Godmother to my friends Daughter. I don't really know why, as out of everyone she could have picked why would she pick me?

The problem is I am not religious at all, not one bit and I have never been Christened and apparently I have to be to be a Godparent. My friend is basically trying to force me to get Christened. She phoned up the church where this whole thing is happening and got the Vicar to phone me.

Before I knew it I've kind of arranged to go and see this Vicar to discuss me getting baptised. Apparently I need to go to Church services on Sundays and all this other crap.

I told her I would be a witness? instead but she was not very happy about this and said she wanted me to be a Godparent, she also said that I should just get Christened even if I don't believe in it as it doesn't mean anything anyways , which confused me, like why are you even getting your Daughter christened then?

I do not feel right getting Christened when I'm not a believer.

I know this will cause a fall out if I say I can't be a Godparent -_- and probably make me look like I don't care.

I don't really know what to do?
