Its occured to me recently that there is still quite a lot anti-Irish prejudice in the UK, so I'm just wondering, to girls on here (or guys) would being Irish or of Irish descent be a problem to you in anyway at all?
The reason why I am asking is because in parts of the UK, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland particularly, the concept of having sons/daughters marry an Irish catholic (or somebody of strong Irish lineage) would be a big no no for a lot of British loyalist families.
I was born in England to two Irish parents, and yes I suffered quite a lot of abuse because of my Irish background in school, but now I live in Northern Ireland, and I know for example the fact that the concept of dating someone from say a protestant background here could cause a lot of problems for that said persons family. Its not about religion, rather ethnicity and culture here.
I personally wouldn't have a problem with dating anyone, but I do know there are elements within the UK and some British people who would have a problem with dating me. Even though I speak English accent, as soon as some here (in Northern Ireland) find out my parents are Irish catholics, thats it, gone, see ya. I'm concious about the fact that my background can be a problem for some people.
