Help!

Hi everyone, just wondering what the reason behind this odd behaviour was, so any opinions are appreciated. Basically, this guy and me were texting most days for about 3 weeks. HE approached ME first, complimenting me etc, and it developed from there. Then suddenly, 3 weeks into this sorta 'thing' we developed, he randomly stops replying. About 2 weeks later I flat out asked him what I'd done wrong, and he replied that although Im a 'lovely girl' he 'doesn't have time for a girl right now'. Is he being honest, or did he simply get bored? If the latter, why do guys feel the need to lie?
