I am really surprised I couldn't find more posts about this. At the end of this academic year I will be graduating and starting a well paid job with great training opportunities which is ideally suited to my interests. I have worked hard for this job but there is one problem which is stopping me from feeling excited.
It is in the midlands, an area which is without a doubt not where my girlfriend of two years will end up. This is because firstly, there are no jobs she would be interested in in this area and secondly, its the midlands. If I didn't have a great job there then there is no way I would have considered moving there.
The result is, realistically, at absolute best I will be spending the next two years between one and three hours away from my girlfriend. I won't go into all the soppy detail but I this relationship beats any other I have ever had by miles. I cannot imagine being with anyone else. However, I know that it would be a stupid idea to give up my career for her.
Does anyone have any experience of this kind of problem or any advise?
