Today I really got on with a guy in a lab practical. He was sat opposite me and as soon as we started to talk it was hilarious. I had finished my experiment before he did and stayed a bit longer to help him out (he asked me to so we could walk to the station together). This made me really, really happy in the moment (lol) as he actually wanted to spend more time with me. Throughout the practical, another girl who is always with him kept coming over. She was sat 2 tables behind our row but kept finding a need to come over. At one point he was telling me a story about a friend of his and she kept interjecting with "yeah! haha remember when we-" etc. She would then look at me in a weird way to see how I responded. I could sense that she was feeling weirdly territorial? She's always with him, I don't know if they've been a couple or if she wants to be? I could really sense her protectiveness. He kept bringing me into the conversation which I appreciate d. Her face would look very irritated/ bored every time.
When we were getting our bags and coats, she followed. I have a feeling she lingered in order to do so. At the lockers he said something hilarious and I laughed. At that moment she came up behind him and squeezed his waist in a really flirtatious way. It made me feel awkward and he looked at me as if to say "ignore her" with a worried/serious look. She followed us to the station and we barely got to talk as much as I would have liked. I felt like a third wheel as he kept trying to talk to me and she kept talking about herself. It's creeped me out. I can tell that he's not interested in her hence the "ignore her" + his embarrassed look but she kept coming over constantly and just made it awkward. He asked for my number to talk further but he hasn't texted me yet. She was standing way ahead and told him to "hurry up" as we exchanged. Have any other girls been in this kind of situation? What should I do?
