What are the odds of me getting a job at TravelEX as a money advisor?

Hi I applied for a part time weekend position at TravelEX (bureau de change) inside a Tesco store. I've just started Uni this month and my student loan won't cover all of my living costs so I'm desperately seeking a job to subsidize my student lifestyle.

I have no 'paid' work experience but do have experience in voluntary work at an Oxfam charity store. I uploaded a cover letter and CV with outlined my skill set/competencies - my passion for foreign currency and travel/geography. Acute analytic skills and mathematical proficiency having achieved A2 levels in Geography, Maths and Physics. I included that I was a university student.

The job is part-time minimum wage job working on weekends only. I discussed my expertise in world bank notes - stated I collected them as a child and would seek to put my acquired knowledge into practice in a professional environment.

On the down side, my CV lacked any kind of paid work experience and given my age (19) and the nature of the job, I think my experience deficit may exclude me from this job. I hope they don't employ some overweight unintelligable halfwit just because they have worked minimum waged jobs longer than me (most of their life).

I should get the job because I'm studying for a degree and at the end of the day I need a source of income other than my student loan which won't fully sustain my lifestyle at university. I'm drifting further away from my parents but would really like to get a job to impress them. My aim is to get a good 2 or 3 jobs by the time I finish Uni - If I transfer to Canada in my second year my uncle who lives in Ontario can help me find work but that's another story.

Right now I'm focusing at getting a part-time minimum wage job. TravelEX is obviously my first choice given my experience in handling foreign currency. I've also applied to Asda.

I really want an interview stage for TravelEX. I feel like I'm the right person for the job in every way from personality to aesthetics.

This is my first time in applying for a time job so I'm not sure how successful students tend to be in their attempts. Do the majority of jobs out there (the minimum wage jobs) go to the 'experienced' yet unqualified middle aged overweight smoking women? Is there any room in this niche for students to have a look in?
