Do I qualify for special consideration?

  • Thread Starter

Right, so this post is anonymous for obvious reasons (as if you are kind enough to continue reading, you will understand why).

I am suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, and I have done for the past 3 years. I have never been one of those BMI of 13 girls you see in magazines, but my BMI has lingered between 15-16 the entire time, which has resulted in chronic malnourishment, a raft of abnormal blood results, an orange hue to my skin and general fatigue/unwellness (new word right there for you ;) )

I have been under the care of CAMHS for 3 2 years, and they have done nothing - until recently. I was referred to a psychologist and she is amazing - the thing is, I not only have anorexia, but I have a lot of other mental health and immense family issues.

My mum had an affair.
With a man that I knew. A man that was brought into the family home, got pally with my Dad, used to act as a Father figure in my life when my Dad went away. I've seen texts, photos from the both of them - not snooping, but they flashed up, and curiosity did kill the cat after all. I heard my mum say life wasn't worth living without him, and so many other things. That's that part in a nutshell. Obviously, knowing your mum has been lying to your face, allowing a man she was having an illicit relationship with into my life was bad. Especially when he and his wife broke up and he disappeared from my life because the affair would have been known to my Dad had it continued. What's even more strange, it that he still comes round to our house - my mum and him are friends.... it's creepy.

Also, during the exam period, I have not only had my OCD and Anorexia to contend with, but my grandparents have been incredibly ill - resulting in them both going into a home. I haven't been eating well as a result and there's been a lot of stress surrounding the family situation and I've been left to do all the work and revision around the house in my mum's absence.

This is incredibly disjointed, but all I can say is, over the past year I've had quite a bit of stress, which I WOULD say has affected my ability to concentrate (not only with the physical implications of my illness, but the emotional stress too) - do you think I could get special consideration in my GCSEs - my therapist knows the full details about everything and could word a letter to suggest that things were going on that were difficult without saying directly?

Am I being pathetic just wanting this to be taken into account, or do you think I'm actually worthy, considering (this post has literally just scratched the surface :( ) what has been going on?
