Any women here on HRT?

I hope this topic is ok to post on TAM.

I have visited many of the "women's websites" regarding hormone replacement therapy during perimenopause/menopause, but mostly the advice is circular and confusing. And it digresses into arguments over synthetic vs. bioidentical hormone replacement.

I would love to hear the thoughts of some of the TAM ladies on their choices during this often-difficult stage of life.

After suffering hot-flashes, night-sweats that leave the sheets and mattress pad SOAKING wet, and mood swings that turn me into Attila the Hun, I have decided to go on bioidentical HRT. Interestingly, my libido is still intact throughout this whole stage (if not more!) but I have all the physical symptoms including dry skin, changes in hair texture and thickness, mild bone loss (despite lifting HEAVY weights for years), and the list goes on.

After just three days on estrogen and progesterone replacement, I feel like a whole new person. For the past two nights, the sheets (and me!) have been dry as a bone, I wake up rested, I have not lost my temper (not once!) and I feel calm.

I'm not trying to start a debate about HRT. I know all about the big study that was done by Wyeth (Women's Health Initiative) using synthetic hormones such as Premarin, Provera, and Prempro. And many of the women in that study were MANY YEARS PAST menopause, not women who were approaching menopause -- when it makes more sense to consider HRT.

I'm just curious if any ladies here would like to share their experiences with/without HRT. PM me if you don't want to divulge publicly. :)
