Hello,
My wife has not worked for over one year and we do not have children. She is working on a home based business of sorts that she spends 0-4 hours a day on (2 hours typically from what I can tell). She handles the finances, does the grocery shopping, and all of the cooking, but is very hit and miss with other housework. Basically anything that involves cleaning is hit and miss at best and the laundry is washed but rarely folded and put away. Recently I offered to help her more with the cleaning around the house, but I am really resenting her for this after being gone for 9 hours a day at work. I take care of all yard work, cleaning up after the dogs outside messes, and anything else that needs to be fixed around the house on weekends which usually takes 1-3 hours per week depending on the season.
This has been a difficult topic to discuss in the past and always caused a fight as she thinks I expect everything to be perfect around the house. I'd just like to be able to walk thru the kitchen barefoot without having crumbs stuck to my feet or seeing the countertops always covered in crumbs and mail.
Am I being unrealistic in expecting that she should be doing more around the house? I feel as though she has no respect for me anymore and is walking all over me in this regard.
