My ex contacted me, i don't know what to say, feel, or do!?

We were together for 2 years, had a lot of ups and downs but still never could let go of each other. then last week he broke up with me and before he breaks up he sends me a wrong message instead to his frnd asking about another girl ( asking if he knows her). The message really got me worked up and i did not want to listen to the reasons y he asked his friend about the girl, so he said good that he sent me the wrong message and that it was fate.

so i agreed and did not want anything to do with him. the day after he called me and i did not answer. over the weekend i saw his friends at the club and i was with my guy friends, his friends got overprotective saying i better leave with them, who the hell are these guys i'm with, and one of them wanted to beat them up! i said it is non of their concern and they said " you know it is".

now after a a week of no contact he sent me a msg on FB sayin he is sorry for being a **** and that he did not break up cuz he lost feelings or had less feeling he broke up cause it was unstable and unhealthy, he said he is feeling torn up about it and does not feel good at all. at the end he said maybe you don't give a **** but i wanted u to know this and i hope you're doing well....

Please someone tell me what is going on here???
