This is something that seems to have amassed over a period of a few months. He's always been grumpy and irritable and he admits this himself, but I remember him having been happier than this in the past.
He often doesn't have an appetite. I initially thought he was trying to cut down on food to lose weigh (as he thinks he needs to), but now we will go to a restaurant and he cannot even finish one course. He used to enjoy his food, as do I, and sometimes he still does, but he can go just eating one meal a day (he never eats breakfast)
He used to smoke weed occasionally with friends, but since living away from parents he smokes a few joints a night (made from hash). I sincerely doubt this is having any positive effect on his mental health, he knows I don't agree with it but I cannot control him and force him to do stuff.
Recently, he came home drunk and started saying he has never felt happy in his life, not me, not his family, friends etc.make him happy, and he does not know what happiness feels like.
He has said on one occasion recently that he wants to kill himself. I asked him if he was serious and he looked deadly serious. He has said this in the past too.
He is angry with me over the slightest thing. He swears, shouts, and is very often in a bad mood.
I always try to remind him of what he has going for him, which is a lot. His family, me, his friends, his work. He just doesn't care. I've told him to speak to his family, a doctor, anyone. He told me last night that nothing works in his life.
He is going through stress atm with an ill relative, but I don't think that that can be the only reason. I don't think I make him happy even though I try my best.
I've no idea what to do anymore. He just won't listen. Does anyone have any advice about what I could do? THanks a lot.
Put the internet to work for you.
