My boyfriend is really crap at opening his mail. Like, super crap. He doesn't do it and ends up missing important things like bills. So about 2 months ago he asked me to just open it for him.
I opened his mail this morning.
I found something I shouldn't have found.
A receipt for an engagement ring.
We've been together 5 years and every time he has thought about proposing he's ****ed it up somehow.
First time he got really drunk, thought I was a female friend and showed me the ring he was planning on getting and said "Don't tell my girlfriend, you need to take her shopping to find out her ring size." Which was cute but extremely dumb! I told him what he'd done in the morning and he didn't propose.
Second time he was looking at rings and then got laid off from his job and all the money he'd saved up for a ring went on living costs.
Third time he was planning to propose but then he was bested by a co-worker's proposal - he took his girlfriend to Prague and my boyfriend felt ashamed because he knew he wouldn't be able to do something as romantic as that. Which I told him was stupid because I don't care if he proposes to me with a haribo ring in the middle of watching Mock the Week, as long as I know he loves me. Yeah, you get the picture.
Basically I'm crap at keeping a secret.
I can't tell him I know about the ring because it'll be another **** up and then he won't propose to me. Again. (Don't ask, he's weird like that).
I have literally NO hiding places for the receipt. And obviously I need to keep the receipt because it's a receipt for an engagement ring and it'd be really stupid if I threw it away.
Aaargh I'm over thinking this way too much.
