League tables

Do you often use the league table approach to dating - going after someone of similar or lesser attractiveness to yourself to improve chances of success? Not sure if it really works. Sure going for it with someone well out of you league can result in being blown out big time. But sometimes you can have success, partiularly if you have the edge on personality/humour - resulting in a good cup run, so to speak. And, in my experience, playing down a league is not an automatic ticket to success either..
