date nite or date "day" for birthday....what should I do??

Hi all,

I think you may have read my prior posts about my husband, who doesn't want to hire a sitter, and only trusts his sister (who has 2 kids of her own) to watch our son.

He also enjoys when his neice/nephew are with their mother (his sister) to have them over for "movie nite" or spend time with them....yes, it's "okay" but it's NOT what I want to do for my birthday!!!

So....we haven't had a date "nite" since our anniversary in April

My birthday is the end of the month (10/28)...I "asked" him 2 months ago if it's okay to ask his sister for a date nite next Saturday, 10/26...to which he said, "okay"...I confirmed with the sister who said, "okay".

Last week he "floated" the idea of having a "day" off with me 10/28 INSTEAD of a date nite! I was annoyed! and angry!
and told him I didn't understand WHY?

and he said, "well, I'm offering you a whole day of our time while our son is in daycare, instead of just a few hours alone". and we could go out to LUNCH.

I said, "I don't see why we can't do both??"

Couldn't we have a nice dinner out (which we haven't had in 6 months!!!) AND stay home during the day together on my birthday...

He said, "no".

That it's "one or the other"

and I didn't have an answer...

He said we didn't need to decide right away.

But he hasn't brought it up since.

I can't help but think he is trying to get OUT of his date nite with ME that I scheduled MONTHS in advance JUST to host a movie nite for his niece/nephew! (in actuality I had planned to take the day off for myself to run errands as I have NO TIME on the weekends to do that as my son takes up all of my weekend time)....I'd rather get dressed up and go out to a nice place than have a "quickie lunch" on a Monday......

Does he just not WANT to date his wife?

Would anyone else be mad?
