tl;dr - ldr friend says he has feelings for me, and calls me his girlfriend. We meet up a week after, and he says he's not sure about ldr as he would want to see me all the time. Now he is distant and doesn't call me his girlfriend. I don't know where I stand anymore.
Full version - Me and this guy met back in March on a course, and we became really good friends (we are both 18, but after the week long course we went back home - we live 40 minutes apart). He liked another girl, and he went after her, and I helped him. She rejected him in July, and I supported him.
Throughout the summer and September when we both went back to college, we messaged each other frequently. He always found time to message/text me and went out of his way to do so, unless there was a good reason, which he always told me about.
Then in late September, we both admitted we liked each other. He said he was scared I'd reject him because he went after the other girl before realising he liked me, but I was fine with it. He sent me nice messages, and the texting continued at the same rate, and he called me his girlfriend - I was over the moon.
One weekend, we met up, and I jokingly teased him wee hadn't asked each other out face to face. He then got awkward and basically said he liked me, but wasn't sure about a ldr relationship, as he would miss me. I told him I fully understand and that we could make it work (I have been in an ldr before), but he changed the conversation.
After this, he stopped calling me his gf. He is less responsive to messages, and doesn't even bother messaging me during the day (only in the evening). This is such a massive and sudden change, and I am honestly upset that he has changed so quickly.
He said he was going to tell his family he had a gf - but when I asked if he had told them, he said no and changed the conversation. I'm fed up of not knowing where I stand.
So, what should I do? Should I ask him if he has something going on in his life? Ask him why he is so distant, or if I am his gf anymore? I don't want to come across as needy, and I'm not sure how to phrase it.
Thanks for the help.
