I just thought I would share a funny story about my wife, our phone and her mother.
Ironically (as will be revealed further) just before we went for our evening walk together today. The phone rang, and it was my mother-in-law interrogating me as to our whereabouts yesterday evening.
Since her and I don't get on at all, I couldn't wait to fob her off on my wife. Who then for the whole phone call was told off by her mother for not calling her back today.
This is where the irony comes in, as it turns out my mother-in-law called yesterday while we were on our evening walk. While our daughter (11) was at a sleepover party and our son (14) was having a shower.
So no one heard the call (she calls at least twice a week) and no one was aware of the call since we omitted to check our messages as we had no call (pun intended) to call anyone today using our landline. So we committed the crime of being blissfully unaware of her call.
The funny thing is, my wife's mother (80) is convinced that on any occasion we miss her call when we are out walking, dating, shopping, with friends or travelling etc. My wife (44) must be deliberately ignoring her and is lying about not being aware of her call/s.
Funnily enough she insists she was worried as to whatever horrid things might have befallen us yet despite that. For three years she had no idea where we lived (though we would visit her regularly and talk on the phone).
She had no idea where we lived because she was so deeply offended that we lived in rental housing she wouldn't visit us. To the point that us moving at one point was not worth mentioning and was of no consequence at all.
