Do I stay with him?

  • Thread Starter

Bit of a long post but would really appreciate some help!!

So I met this guy at uni during freshers, he was already in a relationship which I was aware of. We chatted online, as friends as we are on the same course so had some classes together too. Then a week or so later, we got together, he said he'd broken up with his girlfriend which he had (according to facebook status). It all happened so quickly, I was initially unsure of what I wanted. But I stayed with him and we got on great, and we are still together. There are so many things I like about him and if I ignore the things that bother me then it's a great relationship! But the main thing is really his ex. I kind of feel like she's 'there' interfering. Like, they are still friends on facebook and there are a couple of photos of them together which doesn't really bother me, I don't expect him to go and delete all memory of her from existence, everyone has a past. But what bothers me is I think they still talk. And she 'likes' a lot of his posts, and I think I saw some photos of her on his phone but i'm not sure.
Also another thing that bothers me is that we haven't actually been on a proper date. We haven't been to the movies or gone bowling or whatever. Literally just go round each others a few times a week. I don't feel like I'm being used in that sense though.
I'm just not sure what to do, I feel like if I had the courage to tell him all this we could make it work, he is like the girl in the relationship, he is so open to talk about feelings and what's on my mind and every time he asks me I'm just too scared to say anything. But sometimes he can tell something's up! I kind of know he's not 'the one'. I can't see myself being with him long term but I just want to stick it out to see if it can grow any better.
I'm just so confused as to whether he is not over his ex enough to commit to me or will it just take more time to get over her? It's been about 3 and a half months.
