Social networking, how much does it reflect the person?

  • Thread Starter

Regarding social networking and other online activity. My question really is, does it most often make the person seem more interesting than they really are, less interesting than they are, or does that depend? Or is it usually a perfect reflection of them or misleading?

Also, what makes a person interesting to you when you view their online presence, but also what makes them interesting offline? Is the skill of being interesting online nowadays almost a machiavellian art that is becoming more important than someones presented social personality?
Is it where social capital lies? Is it indicative of something soulless?

I know there's a lot there, but would appreciate if you could try and answer all.
