Hi,
So as soon as I moved into my flat with the other lease holders it was awful. We have never been good friends but I just got on with my own life.
Last week one of them moved out and I asked if I could take her room as I will be there all summer and have a tiny s*** hole as a room. She was perfectly happy with it and said I could move in as soon as I wanted. Now to clarify, there is 4 of us on the lease and we pay rent for the property not for the rooms so they aren't assigned so I believe I have every right to move in there with or without asking her.
After about 4 days of living in that room she text me and told me she had arranged for someone else to move into that room and I had to move out. It says in our lease we need written consent from our landlord to sublet. I know she does not have this so I said that I wasn't happy about someone other than the lease holders living at the flat never mind being told which room to be in. She also added that apparently one of the other flatmates have also arranged to sublet her room.
I am really uncomfortable with the idea of having some strangers having access and living in the flat. She knows that it is against our lease to sublet. What can I do to stop them from subletting without things getting even more ugly than they are and without myself getting into trouble. I need that flat until the lease is up so cannot afford to be evicted because they are subletting illegally.
I'm also worried that she might just turn up and try to move me into another room - can she go into and touch anything in my room without my permission? What action can I take if she was to do it?
