Not having enough time for a girlfriend due to career

I've been running into a bit of a problem in my dating life and I was wondering whether anyone else has been having the same issue, how you deal with it and if perhaps not all girls are like the ones I've run into. I work a busy job as a graduate trainee. I'm not a banker (well at least not yet!) so I don't do 100h weeks but my job is no walk in the park either. What it boils down to is that it is difficult for me to find time during the week to meet up with a girl and spend time with her. This will not change, it will only get worse in time as I rise in seniority within the firm. I got the chance to talk to a very senior guy at my firm, he says that even though he lives in the same house as his family, he doesn't really see them apart from the weekends (but on the other hand, his annual income is probably closing in on 7 figures). Anyway, my previous girlfriend left me because (among other things she didn't like) that I did not have enough time to spend with her and that seeing her once a week on the weekends was not enough. As she was a student and not currently working, of course she had tons of time on her hands. Was talking to another girl, trying to arrange a date, and when I said that I probably won't be able to make anything during the week, she gave me a speech about how difficult it will be for someone like me to find a girlfriend because girls apparently want lots of attention all the time and not just to be a weekend hobby. However do girls not realize that if they want a guy with a successful career (which unless my research is completely wrong, is generally something girls see as a positive trait in a guy) then he will have to be putting the hours in at work? Or are there some girls out there (perhaps the more career driven girls who have little spare time of their own) who don't mind meeting up with a guy just once during the weekend and that being it? I really don't see my life changing for me to have more free time any time soon, I will be working long hours probably until when I retire, will I ever get a girlfriend? For those of you with busy careers (guys), how do you manage to keep your girlfriend happy?
