Should I have lied about my work experience on my job applications?

Here is the situation. I'm 29 years old. I only had one job in my life, at Wal-Mart from 2004-2010.In the past month I've been looking for a job, applying to fast food restaurants and retail stores and I've gotten only 3 interviews. I think the reason for that may be the fact that I lied on my job application. I said I I worked at Wal-Mart from 2004-2014,as opposed to 2004-2010 which is the truth. Should I have done that? I quit Wal-Mart because of a back injury. I told the people at the interviews I went on I left Wal-Mart due to an illness......Should I have been honest about my work experience or should just say I worked at Wal-Mart from 2004-2010 and make up a job from 2010 to the present? Perhaps a store that closed down recently that they can't call?
