My husband had been my world. I'm pretty outgoing, but somehow, I hadn't had many close friends. Friends that I grew up with had ended up having kids and having a different life circumstances placed a divide with my friends. And I am always better at befriending men (I'm bit of a tomboy) than women. Don't get me wrong. I can get along with women and am always just as friendly with women as with men, but it seems harder for me to click with women.
Last year, my husband wasn't working and it really weighed on him. I supported him the best way I knew how, but he became distant and he acknowleges that I looked for conversation online.
Enter a man we'll call E, who doesn't live in my state. It started out as completely platonic emails, exchanging stories, updates on our day. We had a good friendship. I'd give advice for him to better get along with his wife and he'd give me advice to better connect with my husband. E also kept me company while my husband was disconnected and helped me with my own issues from my past. The friendship was highly beneficial, but it was secret. I wasn't sure how my husband would receive it.
Fast forward months later, the friendship develops a sexual tinge. Not quite online or phone sex, but pretty intense. Fast forward a little more and my husband goes back to work and is back to normal, the engaged love of my life that he normally is and he and I resolve our different sexual styles.
Then around Christmas, E's wife finds out about our conversations. She's understandably livid. I want to end contact with E, but end up just decreasing contact.
Just this week, I end all contact. E is devastated. And I'm confused. Things with my husband are back to its lovey dovey state (I haven't told him about E). I've resolved issues from my past and my sexual issues and on track to getting my life and career back in gear. But I've left E hurt and struggling.
