How to deal with a Type A partner when you're a Type B...?

I just moved in with my partner 7 months ago and it has been so difficult for me, but I love him and I want us to work. I'll try to explain in the shortest and most precise way possible.

He is a Type A personality, he's very high strung, he always needs an itinerary, always in rush. He's the boss at work, so he's right about everything. And I didn't realize all of this until AFTER moving in - we've been together 2 years.

I'm the total opposite. I'm very mellow, laidback, I'm forgetful, unorganized, I'm very last-minute & spontaneous, and if I'm running late you wont see me blowing a gasket - and I know that drives him crazy.

I've tried to change after moving in (I think I have changed alot actually) and I try to be more structured, but sometimes its just annoying to deal with.

Once I forgot he recycles and I put empty water bottles in our regular trash can, and he FLIP OUT - he was really mad.

And I used to forget he likes all the toilet lids closed (for whatever reason) and he used to FLIP OUT everytime until I finally got into the habit of doing it.

On our off days I enjoy laying around at home, watching Bravo or movies, not doing anything. He HAS to be doing something and it has to be planned out. And it just annoys me because sometimes I just want to chill and not have to commit doing a specific activity.

Also, every weekend he always organizes dinners to see his friends and their significant others. Which is fine, but I don't want to go all the time and I don't want to see them every weekend. And he won't go if I dont go. I know that sounds mean, but I'm totally different with my friends. I'm fine just talking to them on the phone and seeing them in person every few weeks.

I don't know what else I can do. I've tried talking to him about most of this, but like I said he thinks he's right everything and I just get tired of talking about it. Has anyone else dealt with this? How'd you handle it? Any tips?

And once again, I do love him a lot!
