Relationships and weight gain/loss...

I was having a little heart to heart with a work colleague recently and we were talking about her significant weight loss, she takes part in weekly slimming class and has lost 7 stone. Some people (including me) would initially assume that she would be in a better place since losing all the weight etc. - In fact, I couldn't have been more wrong!

Her relationship completely broke down, her husband no longer liked her going out, dressing in anything other than baggy clothes, being confident and their sex life was now none existent. She says she was still head over heels in love with her husband and tried everything in her power to fix their marriage however, he left.

She believes her weight loss caused jealousy and says her life would have been easier/better had she have never started losing weight or if her husband went on the weight loss journey with her.

This got me thinking... If only one partner gets themselves on a journey of self improvement - I.E weight loss, can a relationship survive?

I'm not saying every relationship will fail and that jealousy is the main cause etc, but I'm just wondering.. Having watched my parents divorce due to a very similar situation, it's made me think...

I'm interested to hear the opinions of TSR :)
