tl;dr - How do I ask a guy who I am certain I liked at one point whether or not he wants to continue dating me, since he is being distant?
Basically, me and this guy grew close purely over texts/phone calls in the space of 5 months. We live about 50 minutes from each other, so I guess it could be defined as a ldr - we only met up twice in this time period, but we were in contact constantly.
It basically came out over text that I liked him, and he said he liked me back. We both felt extremely happy about this and he began to refer to me as his girlfriend - I was over the moon.
When we next met up (5 days after), I jokingly said he needed to ask me out face-to-face. He suddenly became serious (different to his jokey self) and said he wasn't sure if he wanted a ldr, especially if we went to different Unis. I pointed out how close we had become despite the distance, but he changed the subject.
This really hurt me - one minute, I was over the moon as his girlfriend for a grand total of 5 days (woop de doo...), the next, I felt somewhat rejected. He now seems somewhat more distant, and despite my efforts to communicate with him, he is usually rather unresponsive or replies with 1 word answers. It's been 2 months of this now. I am also getting mixed signals in the sense that he was really enthusiastic in meeting up with me 2 weeks ago - we kissed, but during the day he seemed a bit distant, although he did confirm we were indeed 'dating'.
I know I need to ask him where I stand. I don't know whether or not he still likes me, or if he has dumped me, or what.
But how should I go about asking this? I don't want to pressurize him into a relationship he doesn't want to be in, but I don't want him stringing me along like this, as it is really hurting my feelings. Thanks for any help.
