Just posted this thread to see if anyone else is in my position. I know of no gay people on my course, (statistically speaking there should be a few) and sometimes it would be nice to know a few! There's a LGBT+ postgrad group in my uni which I attend (I'm not postgrad I'm 2nd year undergrad, I was one of the first people to join before it was postgrad so now i continue going) and although I know some LGBT+ people from that, either they're in relationships, or not my type, or too old for me, it would be great to know other gay people my age, several people in my friendship group are in relationships and sometimes I feel a little left out, as I'm not even friends with anyone gay, (although I know a couple of lesbians incidently) let alone anything further.
My UEA pride society is fairly decent, but it doesn't accomodate for what I personally would love to see. They do random socials, pub crawls, bowling nights but nothing regular, so it can be hard making friends through the socials, it's more you'll see people then won't see them for a month or two, or maybe never again. I've told someone on the pride committee who says he wants to start something more regular up and we'll see if it happens or not..
In the mean time would be interesting to get to know any gay people who are in a similar position to me? I'm 20 (as of two weeks ago), second year biomedicine student. Feel free to PM me or respond in this thread!
If anyone is curious, I'm out, and friends know about me. I did meet a couple of gay guys who were in my year (one is on a similar course to me and i share modules with him) in a pride event, but we have literally nothing in common other then being gay, so trying to be friends with them isn't really an option! On top of it all I have a little bit of a crush..? On someone in several of my modules, which can be really distracting and annoying -.- Anyway.. enough about me would be cool to see some responses, anyone LGBT+ doesn't have to be gay :)
