| Hi guys! My best friend is getting married this summer, and I am having a terrible time coming up with a wedding gift for them. The complication is that they are NOT registered anywhere, and won't be, as they are getting married in our hometown in Ontario, Canada but live in England (where he's from), so they can't take anything back with them. I thought about getting something shipped to them for their return at the end of the summer, but they a) are renting a fully furnished flat and b) have plans to move to Alberta when her contract there is up (a year or so after the wedding). Many of our friends are just doing cash, but that seems so impersonal to me given that she is one of my best friends. I thought about jewellery (ex. a nice engraved necklace or something) but then what do I get for her fiance? Ack. My mom suggested watches, but they are both very outdoorsey and have your typical plastic timex watches with a bazillion functions so I don't think that's a great idea. In the past when my friends have married, I usually have picked something off the registry and then personalized it (ex. I got my old college roommate a bunch of bakeware, and added a copy of a cake decorating book I love with a personal note in it as I do cake decorating as a hobby and knew she was interested in getting into it). Does anyone have any brillant suggestions? | |||
