Good deeds

A few weeks ago, I went grocery shopping with my husband and son. We filled our cart with what we needed for the next week and a half, then head to check out and pay. While getting in line, an older lady walked up behind us. She smiled at our son and he "talked" to her(our son will be 2 this summer). She only had a couple items, so we asked if she wanted to go ahead of us. She declined and said she was not in a rush. We put everything up on the conveyor belt and she stops us, asking "I don't normally do this, but can I pay for your groceries?" My husband and I looked at each other and were not sure what to say. We've been living on a very tight budget, just making ends meet, but felt kind of embarrassed and weird to accept the offer. She pushed forward, saying "why not?", so I said "ok, thank you!" and thanked her a few times as we left. I have never had something like that happen before and I am amazed at how generous people can be.

Has anyone had something like that happen before or done something similar for someone else? I would love to be able to do something like that for others, but don't have a whole lot of money. I do want to pay it forward at some point. :)
