Lecture on Rape at University.

  • Thread Starter

I've been going over the lecture slides of a Rape Case Study carried out by a female lecturer. It's part of my exam later on today, and apparently everyone's been saying it's very likely it'll be in the exam itself.

Anyway, something is bugging me.

Throughout the slides, it seems like blame is being put 100% on men - as in there have been no mention of male rape at all.

Quotes such as this one made me uneasy "—Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear (Brownmiller 1975)"

I remember in the seminar that no mention of male rape was made either and the statistic the (again) female lecturer had were just for women.

Now I know women are overwhelmingly the main victims of rape, but to throw aside occasions of men being raped is appalling. Especially when both females lecturers are openly feminists.

Thoughts?
