Recently I've had some experience with this issue and always struggled with the idea of pleasing my parents/family at the expense of my own happiness. It may seem selfish but I think deep down I've always held the opinion that my own happiness is more important because the choices I make will ultimately affect my life.
Just interested to hear other people's views on the issue, whether it be a career path, education, choice of partner etc. Would you sacrifice your own happiness to make someone else happy even though you know the decision will 100% make you unhappy?
