Please keep in mind that I am not British and you might find what I say to be offensive... but... well... I am really just asking questions and I would be happy to learn I am wrong.
I know some Brits (who are very conservative) and have told me a lot of scary things about your country such as
- ""Chav culture" is a big problem in Britain. On a weekend the typical chav will get really, really drunk and start to harass people. People who dress conservatively (say in khakis and polos) will get harassed in Britain"
- "The chavs will start bigger or smaller riots for the slightest of reasons, such as being angry with the soccer fans of an other team"
- "The typical chav does not plan for the future. He will buy a flashy new car because he wants one and does not care he cannot pay it"
- "Men who are "decent" (like the ones who want to marry their girl-friend one day) will be harassed by the chavs"
- Britain is full of religious hate preachers. This last one I hear very often in conservative media and the other ones I hear too.
I am really not trying to be offensive, the Brits I have met so far all have been decent guys and none has been a chav or a religious fanatic...
