Really like this girl at uni and want to ask her out to the summerball (sort of the yearly uni festival happening). She's away for a year working, so I don't get to see to her much, unless she gets back to uni (rare). Socially we're more acquaintance, but we had a drunken one night thing about a year ago. Have kept in contact over messaging / helped her to apply for jobs, and she helps with my projects - more friends sort of thing. She said that she might be going depending on work. Have been trying to distract myself while she's away - but when I'm with other girls it feels like I'm using them, as I my heart is somewhere else.
I stopped short of asking her to go with me. I want to - but don't know if she's seeing anyone (don't have a way to find out but to ask) - guess that's the first thing to find out; and I don't want to make the ball weird: its £50-60 a ticket - i.e. slightly much for acquaintances. I'd get the ticket and plus one free from work though. Pretty confident she'll say yes if she's not seeing someone else.
The alternative, is to wait for her if she comes back and do our final year, can get to know each other then, etc in normal pace. This would annoy me as its torturing me if someone else gets there before me. (unlikely but happened once) I really like her, and she thinks highly of me. :o help?
